Round Picture of Katelin

Hey!

I’m Katelin, a registered dietitian and certified nutrition coach. My goal is to teach you how to nourish your body with real foods to reduce your risk of developing disease and improve quality of life – so you feel your best and can do more of the things you love now AND as you age.

My favorite way to teach people how to live their healthiest lifestyle is through cooking. I’ll show you that cooking can be simple and fun, while also nourishing the body so you feel your best and can do more of what you love.

I also offer nutrition coaching to teach you how to reduce your risk of disease through food, while also meeting your specific health and nutrition goals. You’ll learn how to make peace with ALL foods, to create a healthy relationship with food and your body, ditch the dieting for good, and make food choices based on how they’ll make you feel.

My Journey

The 90's
My love for food and cooking goes back to my childhood. I spent my free-time in the kitchen helping mom stir up dinner or brownies, watching cooking shows, and picking veggies out of grandpa's garden. I even got excited to go grocery shopping, help make the grocery list, and pick foods out at the store. The Easy Bake Oven was my favorite gift of all time. I wanted to be a chef or a teacher when I "grew up" - which is fun to reflect on because now I teach others how to cook.

Looking back now, it' seems obvious that I'd wind up in a career revolving around food, because it's something that has always brought me joy.

2002 - The Turning Point
My interest in health and nutrition also started as a child - in 5th grade to be exact when I got teased on the playground and called “fat” in front of all my classmates. I was embarrassed, ashamed, and insecure. That was a life-changing moment for me, and I decided that I was going to do something about it.

That summer I tried my first diet - The South Beach Diet. I also started excessively exercising. I lost weight and looked like a completely different person going into the next school year. All the praise from friends and family over my weight loss and how “great” I looked propelled me to do more.

For the next few years I restricted my diet and over-exercised. But I knew something wasn’t right when I didn’t get my period for an entire year at the age of 17.

High School
This is when I started to pay closer attention to my grandma - who was and still is one of the healthiest people I’ve ever known - and because of her I was able to develop a healthier relationship with food and exercise.

I was inspired by the foods she ate and the lifestyle she lived, and wanted to follow in her footsteps. Everything she ate was made from whole, real, simple foods. She rarely had processed food in her home (graham crackers and JIF peanut butter were probably the most processed foods you’d find), and was ALWAYS moving her body by working in the garden, cooking, going for walks, and mostly just doing everyday activities that she enjoyed.

Discovering Dieting is not the Answer
But besides eating well and staying active, she also had the most positive attitude and was genuinely excited about life. She always looked and acted so much younger and more joyful than anyone else her age, was disease-free, and on no medications into her 90s. And what really fascinated me is that she was never “dieting” - she CHOSE to eat the way she did and to be active because those choices made her feel good, and gave her the energy to do all the things that mattered most to her.

This helped me discover that dieting is not the answer, and made me think, what if I could show people how to live like this so they can feel amazing and do all the things they love until they’re 90+ years old?

2011-Present
This entire journey led me into the field of dietetics, where I studied nutrition, completed a dietetic internship, and became a registered dietitian (and a certified nutrition coach soon after).

Now I get to combine my love for cooking and my expertise in health and nutrition to teach you the formula to live your healthiest life, so you can feel your best and do more of what you love, longer. No dieting required.

I’m here to help you every step of the way.

XO - Kate
